Enjoy the Costa Blanca thanks to the Alicante taxi

The Costa Blanca is one of the main tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Its temperate climate, with an average annual temperature of 17 º C, and the beaches and coves along its 218 kilometers of coastline, of which fifty with the EC blue flag, are more than enough to attract the enormous number of visitors who have spent their summers on our shores for several decades.

The north of the province, the Marina Alta region, is cut through mountains that reach down to the sea to create impressive cliffs rising above small secluded coves in places such as Denia, Jávea, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Benissa.

The Marina Baixa region has some of the best-known fine sand beaches, such as those in Benidorm (Levante and Poniente).

The south of the province, from Alicante to Pilar de la Horadada, is also famous for its long beaches, as well as the numerous wetlands and salt marshes (the Lagunas de La Mata in Torrevieja, lagoons and the wetlands of El Hondo in Elche) and sand dune sites of exceptional natural value, especially those of Guardamar.

The Costa Blanca is a true paradise for golf lovers. It has become one of the most important international centers for golf throughout the year, thanks to the exceptional climate, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and easy access to the main tourist markets."

The courses have first-class facilities and are generally located on the coast near the main tourist centers. There are currently more than 15 courses along the Costa Blanca, all located less than 45 minutes by car along the highways from El Altet airport. Some of the facilities have been designed by top golfers such as Severiano Ballesteros. Golf currently attracts over half a million visitors to our province and is expected to become even more popular.

Rice is the star ingredient of local dishes. As well as paella, we have rice broth dishes, such as arròs amb fessols i naps, rice with beans and turnip, and sticky rice dishes, as well as crusted rice, baked with egg and sausage. Caldero, guisado and arroz a banda, rice with fish broth, are very simple rice dishes that reproduce the recipes of the sailors who sail from the ports of Alicante and can be accompanied by appetizers, such as salted tuna. and dry, with which products such as toros and mojamas can be made.

Both our wines and spirits have their Denomination of Origin (Denominations of Origin). The muscats and white wines from Marina Alta and Fondillón del Vinalopó are our best-known sweet wines. Our red wines are strong and robust, with high alcohol content. As for liqueurs, Anís Paloma, Café Licor de Alcoy, Cantueso and Herrero, (made from aromatic herbs from the Sierra de Mariola) are strong drinks traditionally enjoyed after meals."

Our best-known desserts are the nougats and ice creams traditionally made by the universally acclaimed artisans of Xixona. Our pastries are typically Arabic in both origin and taste and include «anise donuts», anise cookies, or «aguardiente», eau-de-vie cookies, sweet potato empanadas, pumpkin empanadas and almojábena fritters.

The Costa Blanca is committed to tourism, something that demonstrates the unquestionable variety and quality of its leisure options. Water and safari parks, aquariums, craft fairs, caves, boat trips and endless sporting activities, from diving and cycling to hot air balloon rides and bungee jumping, mean the city’s leisure options Costa Blanca are almost endless."

There are also several theme parks. Among the most innovative is Terra Natura in Benidorm, where you can visit, study and learn about the life and civilizations of the animals of the Earth. The landscape of the Costa Blanca is characterized by a gentle coastline overlooked by mountains that can reach 1500 meters in height just a short distance from the coast, such as Aitana and Puig Campana, making Alicante the second most mountainous province in Spain.

The province has many natural parks, including the coastal mountain ranges (the Serra Gelada in Benidorm, the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe and El Montgó in Denia), continental mountain ranges (in Alcoy the Sierras de la Mariola and the Font Roja), as well as wetlands of exceptional ecological value (the Salinas de Santa Pola, salt flats of the Lagunas de Torrevieja-La Mata, the wetlands of El Hondo de Elche and the Marjal reservoir in Pego-Oliva).

1986 saw the creation of the Tabarca Island Marine Reserve. The island is located opposite Santa Pola and its seabed is exceptionally rich in flora and fauna. Cabo de San Antonio, a promontory with fantastic views between Jávea and Denia, is another of the Marine Reserves on the Costa Blanca and especially recommended for diving lovers.

Some of the most spectacular geological formations are the caves, such as Canelobre in Busot, La Cueva de las Calaveras in Benidoleig and La Cova del Rull in La Vall de Ebo. Other natural areas of special interest, such as Las Fuentes del Algar, an extraordinary collection of waterfalls, springs and fountains in Callosa d’En Sarrià.
